Common Algorithms-Part 1: Mean and Median


Algorithm to find Mean and Median:

Step 1: Start

Step 2: Accept x1, x2,...,xn as n numbers.

Step 3: Arrange in ascending or descending order.

Step 4: If n is odd then goto Step 5 or goto Step 6.

Step 5: Print M=[ (n+1)/2 ].

Step 6: Print  { (n/2) + [ (n/2)+1 ] } / 2.
            Goto next step.

Step 7: Sum = x1+x2+...+xn

Step 8: A.M. = Sum/n

Step 9: Print Mean; i.e.; A.M.

Step 10: Stop
